A weekend trip is one of my all time favourite things to do, especially if it’s spontaneous. With so many amazing places just waiting to be explored it’s hard to choose where to go next. To help you out with this dilemma, I’ve put together a list of my favourite weekend destinations around the world. Well what are you waiting for? Get planning now!
A Weekend in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is the perfect weekend destination for those who are nearby or stopping for a layover. With an array of fantastic restaurants and world famous skyline, this fast paced city will keep you on your toes.
A Weekend in Prague
With everything within walking distance and beautiful historical architecture everywhere you turn, Prague is a great option for a quirky weekend break. It’s also really cheap so very friendly on the wallet.
A Weekend in San Francisco
A city that is a perfect mix for tourist sightseeing and cool laid back local living. San Francisco is a city that feels really welcoming and is so diverse that a weekend break here works for everyone. Don’t miss the obvious hotspots such as Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf as well as getting off the beaten path to explore the crazy hilly neighbourhoods.
A Weekend in Amsterdam
A favourite weekend destination for many, Amsterdam is a cool city that is both surprisingly relaxed as well as a great place for a big ol’ party. By day wander the canals, fill your face with delicious treats and cycle the cobbled streets. By night hit up the bars and internationally renowned clubs for a night to remember…or maybe you won’t!
A Weekend in Sydney
Cosmopolitan and cool, Sydney is famous around the world for being the ultimate Aussie city. Compared to many of the world’s capital cities, I found it was surprisingly small and actually easily explored within a weekend.
Hang out by the harbour, visit a few of Sydney’s best galleries and museums, relax in the Botanical Gardens and make sure to enjoy as many of the fantastic cafes, bars and restaurants as you can possibly squeeze in.
A Weekend in Dublin
Dublin is a city that’s alive! Filled with culture, history, great brunch cafes and many a pub with live music, this weekend destination is extremely social and is a great one for those who are planning a big group trip away. Just make sure you save enough euros to enjoy it to the full as it’s definitely on the pricey side.
A Weekend in Wellington
If you’re looking for a relaxed city that embraces outdoor living then Wellington is the one for you. It’s definitely one of the coolest weekend destinations in the world which has bucket loads of character and bucket loads of coffee shops too. You’ll love the arts and culture scene as well all of the opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
